Thanks to Smart Vision’s new telemedicine platform, customers can now check their vision on the spot, with no appointment necessary

New York, NY — August 19, 2016, Smart Vision Labs (https://www.smartvisionlabs.com), creators of smart autorefraction devices for vision testing, welcomes their newest optical partner, Devonshire Optical, (http://devonshireoptical.com/) to their growing network of NYC stores offering Smart Vision Exams. The Smart Vision Exam uses the same technology developed for LASIK to measure a person’s eye and sends the data to a remote network of eye doctors who provide updated eyeglass prescriptions within 24 hours.

Devonshire Optical, a well-established optical store, is located at 51 University Place in New York, NY 10003 (the optical store is conveniently located near NYU, Washington Square Park and Union Square). Smart Vision Labs, founded in 2013 by Yaopeng Zhou and Marc Albanese, is transforming the way people get their vision tested. Eye exams are becoming fun and are no longer a tedious process.

“We are excited to partner with Devonshire Optical to help them grow their business while providing consumers with a convenient means to update their eyeglass prescription,” said Yaopeng Zhou, co-founder and CEO of Smart Vision Labs. “Our goal is to get more people in New York City to experience the world’s most convenient and intuitive vision test.”

The Smart Vision Labs vision test uses autorefraction technology with a proprietary telemedicine platform, allowing doctors to analyze vision test results and other data without having to be on-site. The doctor can write a digital eyeglass prescription for a patient or make a recommendation for a full eye health exam where appropriate.

Optical stores that don’t always have the ability to offer a prescription for glasses can now use the Smart Vision Labs platform to grow their business. Optical stores no longer have to send customers away for a prescription, but can service them and create a better user experience and provide high quality glasses.

In the United States alone, 240 million Americans are in need of vision correction, but only 114 million eye exams are performed yearly. On average there is one eye doctor for every 5,000 people. Personalizing telemedicine promotes ownership of one’s own medical data, and with Smart Vision Labs, prescriptions are always accessible with a click of a button.
