Combining over 35 years of optical experience with new technology, Digital Optiks increased monthly revenues over 20% and eliminated costs associated with remaking prescriptions after adding Smart Vision Exams and eyeglasses prescriptions to the list of services they provide.

New York, NY — September 12, 2016, Smart Vision Labs (https://www.smartvisionlabs.com), leaders in vision screening technology, announced today their earliest partner, Digital Optiks, is reporting monthly sales increases of over 20% after they started using Smart Vision Exams. Additionally, their remake rate from prescriptions issued by the telemedicine platform has been zero. Smart Vision Exams uses the same advanced technology developed for LASIK to capture how light travels back and forth through a person’s eye. The data is then sent to a remote network of eye doctors who review the results and when necessary, provide updated eyeglass prescriptions. The vision test takes about 5 minutes and doesn’t require customers to wait to see an optometrist for an eyeglasses prescription.

Digital Optiks is located at 181-16 Hillside Avenue, Queens, NY 11432 and has been serving the Jamaica Queens area since Suresh Sanpaul opened the business after spending 35 years working in the optical industry in NYC. Smart Vision Labs, founded in 2013 by Yaopeng Zhou and Marc Albanese, is transforming the way people test their vision and expanding the vision care market to ensure more people have access to vision testing and updated prescriptions.

“I am an early adopter, sort of a technology geek, when I learned about Smart Vision Labs I did my research and started testing it out,” said Suresh Sanpaul, founder and CEO of Digital Optiks. “Ninety percent of our customers who needed a prescription after taking the Smart Vision Exam ended up buying glasses from us. We are thrilled to have the ability to offer prescriptions and provided a service to our customers.”

In the United States alone, 240 million Americans are in need of vision correction, but only 114 million eye exams are performed yearly. On average, there is one eye doctor for every 5,000 people. Personalizing telemedicine promotes ownership of one’s own medical data, and with Smart Vision Labs, prescriptions are always accessible with a click of a button.

“Digital Optiks was our first partner and they started to utilize the technology immediately and the results are paying off though increased sales and reduced expenses,” said Yaopeng Zhou, co-founder and CEO of Smart Vision Labs. “We are excited for their success.”

Smart Vision Exams pairs mobile autorefraction technology with a proprietary telemedicine platform, allowing doctors to analyze vision test results and other data remotely. The doctor can write a digital eyeglass prescription for a patient or make a recommendation for a full eye health exam when appropriate.

Optical stores that don’t always have the ability to offer a prescription for glasses can now use the Smart Vision Labs platform to grow their business. Optical stores no longer have to send customers away for a prescription and can now service them and create a better user experience and provide high quality glasses.
