Customers of Little Optical in Amityville, NY can now easily check their vision in less than five minutes and get an updated prescription using Smart Vision Labs’ new telemedicine platform

New York, NYSeptember 1, 2016, Smart Vision Labs (https://www.smartvisionlabs.com), creators of smart autorefraction devices for vision testing, welcomes their latest and first optical partner in New York’s Long Island, Little Optical, to their growing network of NY stores offering Smart Vision Exams. The Smart Vision Exam uses the same advanced technology developed for LASIK to capture how light travels back and forth through a person’s eye. The data is then sent to a remote network of eye doctors who read the results and when necessary provide updated eyeglass prescriptions.

Little Optical on Broadway is located at 116 Broadway Ste 2, Amityville, NY 11701. Smart Vision Labs, founded in 2013 by Yaopeng Zhou and Marc Albanese, is transforming the way people test their vision and expanding the vision care market to ensure more people have access to vision care and updated prescriptions.

“It is amazing to see the reception from NYC opticals and how quickly Little Optical embraced our tools,” said Yaopeng Zhou, co-founder and CEO of Smart Vision Labs. “Our initial vision for the company is becoming a reality with every location that adopts the Smart Vision Exam. Now, more people have access to a convenient means of updating their eyeglass prescription. Our goal and focus remain unchanged: We want to get more people in the New York City metro area to experience the world’s most convenient and intuitive vision test.”

Smart Vision Exams pair mobile autorefraction technology with a proprietary telemedicine platform, allowing doctors to analyze vision test results and other data remotely. The doctor can write a digital eyeglass prescription for a patient or make a recommendation for a full eye health exam when appropriate.

Optical stores that don’t always have the ability to offer a prescription for glasses can now use the Smart Vision Labs platform to grow their business. Optical stores no longer have to send customers away for a prescription and can now service them and create a better user experience and provide high quality glasses.

In the United States alone, 240 million Americans are in need of vision correction, but only 114 million eye exams are performed yearly. On average there is one eye doctor for every 5,000 people. Personalizing telemedicine promotes ownership of one’s own medical data, and with Smart Vision Labs, prescriptions are always accessible with a click of a button.
